About the Event
On Thursday, June 27, 2024, we at The Clifton House will inaugurate our Annual Lucille Clifton Lecture. Established to honor the birth of our beloved poet, author, and luminary Lucille Clifton; the lecture emerges to reflect the impact of her extraordinary personhood and literary contributions.
It is with profound honor that we welcome distinguished poet, editor, and artist aracelis girmay as our inaugural Lucille Clifton Lecturer. This event is not to be missed!

About the artist:
aracelis girmay is the author of three books of poems, for which she was a finalist for the Neustadt International Prize for Literature. Her most recent full-length collection is the black maria (BOA Editions, 2016). girmay is on the editorial board of the African Poetry Book Fund and is the editor-at-large of the Blessing the Boats Selections, a poetry series founded by the publisher of BOA Editions and named after Lucille Clifton's cherished poem. girmay is the editor of How to Carry Water: Selected Poems of Lucille Clifton (BOA Editions, 2020).
